My Little Mocha - A journey of motherhood with our first baby girl!

When your little one is born life becomes brand new because you feel as though you have never lived before; at least not like this. It is truly the most satisfying, amazing journey that just can't be topped. Every day I am with her is the best day of my life. I am so proud to be my babies momma. There is nothing like the smile from a baby when they first wake up in the morning or the joy you feel when they laugh.

Call 911!!!

I feel like the luckiest girl alive to have such a wonderful family. I can't believe I have such an amazing life and I am very thankful for that. Of course we are all human and sometimes forget to look at the big picture and forget not to sweat the small stuff.
There can also be life changing events in life that remind you to never forget just how lucky you are. Last month just happened to be one of those moments for me. I was getting my daughter ready for her nap and was in a hurry because she was so late for her nap. I handed the toothbrush to her as I finished brushing my teeth and told her to do the same. Against my better judgment she was walking around with her toothbrush in her mouth instead of sitting down. A minute later all I heard was crying that transformed into a scream. I instantly knew what had happened and rushed to pick her up. As I did I saw she had fallen with the toothbrush in her mouth. I picked her up, pulled the toothbrush from her mouth and screamed "Oh my god!" My husband was in the shower and jumped out immediately when he realized things were not right. Instantly she started to have a hard time swallowing which was effecting her breathing. As we both were cautiously looking at her she started to spit out a small amount of blood and that's when everything flashed before my eyes. I jumped to the worst conclusion and was picturing her having to have surgery or possibly not making it if it was worse than that. I yelled out for my husband to call 911 and he immediately did. I just tried to calm her down and slowly she started to. By the time the fire truck got to our house, which seemed like forever, she was doing ok and was breathing just fine. They came in and checked her out and they came to the conclusion that she did scratch the back of her throat and should be just fine. I feel like I'm so lucky that I got this wake up call with such small repercussions.
Things in our house have changed for sure and there is never going to be any time that walking around with her toothbrush in her mouth is o.k. Keep this in mind and realize that life is so precious and cherish the ones you love and try not to sweat the small stuff.
