Off to the lactation consultant with baby at 6 days old. So, what can I say...nursing your baby is amazing and tough at the same time. For me the tough came first, and the amazing came a couple months later. I am still nursing her at 3 months but I can see how easy it is to throw in the towel. It takes a lot of dedication and patience! In the beginning I cried from lack of sleep and the pain it caused but I made it to the other side. Now nursing is a breeze and I do really enjoy it. I can't say enough about how much it helped by seeing a lactation consultant for help, it really puts your mind at ease. My hospital even offered the lactation consultation free because there was a grant for it. The consultation was truly priceless. Make sure to ask your hospital about it because it's worth it!
